Marion County Board of Education and school leaders host ‘Christmas Toy Shop’ meeting
FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Marion County Board of Education members and representatives of the schools, met Tuesday afternoon to get an early start on the ‘Christmas Toy Shop’ planning meeting, discussing a variety of ways to provide a great Christmas for the area.
This is year will mark the eight straight year that the Board and other members have hosted the program.
“We’re working on having a 5k to provide money to go toward the toys. We’re working on a toy drive for a football game where fans can get in for a discount rate if they bring in a a brand new toy. We’re also working on a t-shirt design collaboratively with all three high schools in the county so that we can sell those and really give our kids some ownership in the program.” said Kristin DeVaul, assistant principal North Marion High School.
Last year the Christmas Toy Shop event filled the Marion County Election Center with enough toys to service more than 581 children.
